1969 July MOECO was established by 17 Mitsui group companies with paid-in capital of 1.5 billion yen.
Oct. MOECO acquired 1,852,800 shares (10% of total) of Indonesia Petroleum, Ltd. (INPEX) from Mitsui & Co., Ltd.
1970 Sept. MOECO acquired a 50% interest in Blocks 10 and 11 in the Gulf of Thailand.
1974 Jan. MOECO acquired a concession in Hokkaido from Mitsui Mining Co., Ltd.
1978 Jan. MOECO acquired a 10% interest in Salawati Block in Irian Jaya, Indonesia.
1979 Mar. MOECO acquired 28.4% of South East Asia Petroleum Exploration Co. (SEAPEC) shares enabling participation in Blocks 12 and 13 in the Gulf of Thailand.
1981 Oct. MOECO began natural gas and condensate production in the Erawan Field in the Gulf of Thailand under the first Gas Sales Agreement (GSA) with the Thai government.
1983 Oct. MOECO began natural gas and condensate production in the Gulf of Thailand under the second GSA.
1990 Apr. Moeco Thai Oil Development Co., Ltd. acquired a 5% interest in Block B12/27 in the Gulf of Thailand.
MOECO and SEAPEC merged, forming a company with total paid capital of 33.1 billion yen.
1992 Feb. Moeco Thai Oil Development Co., Ltd. began production of natural gas and condensate in the Gulf of Thailand under the third GSA.
1995 June Wandoo Oil Development Co., Ltd. acquired a 40% interest in WA-202-P, offshore Western Australia.
1996 May Moeco Vietnam Petroleum Co., Ltd. acquired a 21.25% interest in Block B, offshore Vietnam.
1999 June Moeco Thailand Co., Ltd. acquired a 4% interest in Blocks 14A, 15A, and 16A in the Gulf of Thailand.
Aug. Moeco Thai Oil Development Co., Ltd. began production of natural gas and condensate at Pailin Gas field in Block B12/27 in the Gulf of Thailand.
Oct. Moeco Southwest Vietnam Petroleum Co., Ltd. acquired a 21% interest in Block 52/97, offshore Vietnam.
2001 July MOECO began production of crude oil from the Plamuk and Kaphong fields in the Gulf of Thailand.
2002 Mar. Moeco Cambodia Co., Ltd. acquired a 30% interest in Block A, offshore Cambodia.
Apr. MOECO acquired a 10% share of United Petroleum Development Co., Ltd.
June Moeco International B.V. acquired a 14% interest in Block 9, Oman through its affiliate Mitsui E&P Middle East B.V. (MEPME).
Oct. Moeco International B.V. acquired a 14% interest in Block 27, Oman through MEPME.
2004 Jan. Medco Moeco Langsa Ltd. acquired a 70% interest in the Langsa TAC offshore Indonesia as an operator.
Siam Moeco Ltd. acquired 100% of onshore Thailand Blocks L10/43 and L11/43 as an operator overseas for the first time.
Sept. MOECO acquired a 25% interest in Block G4/43 in the Gulf of Thailand.
2005 Aug. MOECO International B.V. acquired a 16.71% interest in Blocks 8/32 and 9A in the Gulf of Thailand.
2006 May MitEnergy Upstream LLC acquired interest in 85 blocks in the Gulf of Mexico.
Dec. Moeco Libya Co., Ltd. acquired two exploration blocks in Libya, a 15% interest in Area 113 Blocks 3&4 and a 35% interest in Area 201 Blocks 1, 2, 3 & 4.
2007 Mar. Moeco Tuna E&P Co., Ltd. acquired a 35% interest in the offshore Tuna Block in Indonesia.
Dec. In the 20th bidding round on Thai exploratory fields, MOECO was awarded concessions covering offshore Blocks G4/50, G6/50, G7/50, and G8/50 and signed a concession agreement.
2008 Feb. Moeco (Song Hong) Co., Ltd. acquired a 50% interest in Block 104-109/05, offshore northeastern Vietnam.
Mar. Moeco Thailand Co., Ltd. started production of natural gas and condensate in Blocks 14A, 15A, and 16A in the Gulf of Thailand.
Sept. MOECO established the Jakarta Representative Office.
Nov. MOECO established the Hanoi Representative Office.
2009 July MOECO acquired a 23.75% interest in Block G4/48 in the Gulf of Thailand and started production of natural gas and crude oil the following month.
Aug. MOECO Phu Khanh Co., Ltd. acquired a 15% interest in Block 122, offshore central Vietnam.
Nov. MOECO acquired a 4% interest in Block G9/48 in the Gulf of Thailand.
2010 Apr. A drilling rig explosion and fire occurred in an exploratory field in the Gulf of Mexico which MOECO's subsidiary had a 10% interest in the block as a non-operator.
June MOECO International B.V. acquired a 20% interest in three onshore blocks in Egypt.
Nov. MOECO established the Ho Chi Minh Office.
2011 May MOECO and its subsidiaries reached a settlement with BP Exploration and Production Inc. concerning the Gulf of Mexico oil spill incident.
