MOECO holds mining rights of 749 blocks covering 2,621.5 km² in offshore Hokkaido. That area seems to have high potential for discovering oil and gas. Through various methods including reanalysis of existing geophysical exploration data, MOECO continues to evaluate oil and natural gas potential for the production.
